A man was reported missing in La Pared Beach in Luquillo today at 3am .

In a preliminary report, the police informed that a US soldier drowned. Authorities were alerted by his companion.

“A man was on the beach with some friends and everybody got out but him”, they informed.

The body of Fernando Fernández, 30, was found floating at around 4:30 a.m. by rescuers who came to the scene.

It was not reported to which military body the soldier belonged.

La Pared in Luquillo is considered one of the most dangerous beaches on the island, due to the underwater currents that develop there.
