New York Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under investigation by the House Ethics Committee, the agency announced in a news release Wednesday.

Although the statement does not provide details about the investigation, the Ethics Committee said that the decision to extend the Ocasio-Cortez inquiry, which was transmitted to the Committee on June 23, 2022, does not mean that a violation occurred, nor does it reflect judgment on the part of the Committee. They also indicated that they will announce their course of action on the investigation after their organizational meeting in 2023.

According to Forbes, a spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez’s office said, through written statements, that “the congresswoman has always taken ethics incredibly seriously, refusing any donations from lobbyists, corporations or other special interests.”
